Accessible Toilets and the Master Locksmiths Association Key

The Master Locksmith Access Key (MLAK) is an innovative system that enables people with disabilities to gain 24/7 access to public facilities.  Accessible facilities should be open during the day, however sometimes it is necessary to lock them after hours. The MLAK is designed to INCREASE ACCESS to facilities that would under normal circumstances be locked after hours. The MLAK will reduce the level of vandalism, keep facilities clean and at the same time overcome the obstacle of accessible toilets being locked.

People with a disability have 24-hour access to Great Lakes Council controlled accessible toilets, using the MLAK.  The same master key will give access to any facility operating under the MLAK system in NSW.

Accessible toilets fitted with the MLAK locks in the Great Lakes Council area are located at:

  • John Wright Park - Manning Street, Tuncurry
  • Pebbly Beach - Head Street, Forster
  • District Office - 245 Myall Street, Tea Gardens
  • Pacific Palms Tourist Information Centre - Boomerang Drive, Pacific Palms

Purchasing MLAK Keys
To purchase one of these keys, you simply need to complete an application form and pay the prescribed fee. Alternatively you can obtain the information and application form from Council's Administration Building, Forster, the District Offices at Stroud and Tea Gardens as well as Forster Visitors Information Centre.  For further information on the MLAK System please visit the website www.scia.org.au.

Should you experience any difficulties accessing these facilities, please contact Council's Community Services Business Support Officer during business hours.
