In February 2007 Council resolved to prepare a draft Local Environmental Plan (LEP) for the land known as the North Shearwater Precinct (NSP).
The NSP precinct is located immediately north of the Shearwater Estate, between Viney Creek and the Myall River. The land has been identified in Council's Hawks Nest/Tea Gardens Conservation and Development Strategy 2003 as a suitable area for rezoning for future development and conservation.
A Local Environmental Study (LES) has been prepared for the land which was exhibited from 9 April to 15 May 2009 and adopted by Council in July 2009. The LES draws on information from detailed studies prepared as part of the LEP process and will be used as the basis for the rezoning of the land.
Council anticipates that a draft LEP will be presented to a Council meeting later this year for endorsement for exhibition.
Due to the size of the LES document it has been broken down into a number of sections for downloading.
