In order to plan for the long-term future of the Great Lakes, this strategy has been prepared with the aim of ensuring a sustainable approach to land use planning and management within Forster/Tuncurry. This strategy includes consideration of environmental, economic and social factors.
The strategy also places emphasis on the potential impacts of urban expansion on Wallis Lake, which is a valuable asset in the region, in terms of its conservation value and also the value of industries that rely on its health and quality. It is therefore critical that the water quality and ecological systems in the catchment are preserved. Thus the Forster Tuncurry Conservation and Development Strategy aims to identify options for future growth while safeguarding environmental quality.
