In conjunction with the draft Local Environmental Plan Amend No. 76 (LEP) for North Tuncurry a Local Environmental Study (LES) was been prepared.

The LES was exhibited from 3 December 2008 to 21 January 2009 and adopted by Council on 13 May 2009.

The purpose of the LES was to identify potential constraints and opportunities for any future residential development on the subject lands. Detailed studies were undertaken to develop a better understanding of the site's biological, physical, visual and cultural attributes, as well as the broader social and economic factors influencing future housing demand in this locality. The LES findings have been used to inform preparation of a draft LEP for the subject site.

The LES is presented in two (2) volumes. Volume one (1) summaries the major investigations, findings and recommendations, and Volume two (2) contains technical reports and other material of relevance in the preparation of the LES.
