Crime - (Including Thriller; Legal Thriller & Mystery)

Science Fiction/Fantasy

War & Sea Stories

Each book in our large range of fiction is shelved under the author’s surname and has the first three letters of his/her surname on the spine within the above genres/categories.

On the spine is a coloured label to specify the subject. --->

Large Print

We have a good selection of large print books. These have a larger style of print especially for sight-impaired or those who prefer a larger size print to read.

These have been subject labelled the same as the fiction and are filed by author’s surname.

Talking Books

Book CDs (BCD), book cassettes (BC) or talking books are books recorded on CDs or cassettes. The size of a talking book may range from 1 CD or cassette up to 24 CDs or cassettes, depending on the story.

Many well-known actors and actresses have recorded the stories, so they are clear and easy to understand. This collection is great for sight-impaired people or those that are too busy to sit and read a book and can listen as they work or drive.

Book cassettes are subject labelled with the same coloured spine labels as the fiction and large print books.

Non Fiction

A wide range of subjects are available in Non-Fiction. They are shelved by their Dewey decimal spine label which denotes their subject area.

Biographies' spine label has a "B" and the first three letters of the person’s surname that the book is about.

PlayStation Games

A collection of Playstation 1 and 2 games includes most of the popular titles. The normal borrowing period applies and reserves can be placed for a small fee.  Six Playstation games may be borrowed at a time by each library member.

Junior Fiction

The junior section of the library has 3 main areas. They are junior fiction, junior non-fiction and the easy or picture book section.

Junior fiction books have stories for kids just starting to read by themselves up to the harder stories for older kids.

The Subject of junior fiction books is indicated with a picture spine label.

The easy or picture book section contains books with E1, E2 & E3 labels on them.

E1 books are the easiest and have lots of pictures and very little text.

E2 books have more text or a short story and still with plenty of pictures.

E3 books have more text and less pictures than E2 books The next step up from E3 books is junior fiction.
