Neighbour Aid

Great Lakes Neighbour Aid and Hawks Nest Tea Gardens Neighbour Aid provide social support services to frail older people, people with a disability and the carers of both.

The services aim to connect people in the community who require assistance, with those able to volunteer their time and skills to provide such assistance.

  • Social visiting/companionship
  • Support for carers
  • Minor home maintenance
  • Light gardening
  • Meal supervision/preparation
  • Provision of information
  • Generalist Carers support group
  • Dementia Carers support group
  • Social support and group outings

Who can refer you to Neighbour Aid?

Anyone can refer you, including relatives, neighbours, medical practitioners and community health care professionals or you may refer yourself.

 

Service provision;

A staff member will contact you and discuss your individual circumstances and needs. If eligible for a service, the Neighbour Aid service will endeavour to locate a suitable volunteer to help you.

 

What will it cost?

To help meet the cost of volunteers expenses such as travel, there is a fee for some services provided. The amount charged will be negotiated with you and your contribution will go towards extending the service to as many people as possible.
